Care for expectant mothers is provided by the doctors in conjunction with a team of midwives from the Horton Hospital in Banbury.
We have weekly visits from The Blue Group Midwife Team - they attend for appointments on Monday lunch time. If you need to see a midwife other than this time please contact the Horton General Hospital on 01295 229190.
Clinics are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, providing all childhood immunisations and developmental assessments. Invitations will normally be sent out when these are due.
The NHS in Oxfordshire now provides counselling call 'Talking Space'. If your GP feels that you would benefit from this service they will advise you accordingly. For patients wishing to see a counsellor direct, you can contact Maggie Witherick on 01608 685056 or via www.northcotswoldscounselling.org.uk. Maggie has been attached to Sibford Surgery as our counsellor for 10 years.
A full service is available during normal surgery hours from the doctors and Mary Blake If “morning after” contraception is needed, you should contact the surgery as soon as possible. For the most effective emergency contraception, it is advisable to use it as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse.
Mary Blake can advise on all available methods and fit contraceptive implants and also that Dr Spackman fits Intra-uterine devices.
The Surgery is equipped for the doctors to perform minor surgical procedures. Please see a doctor for an initial discussion.
A full health check with a practice nurse or HCA, including measuring your blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and weight, and discussing your health and lifestyle. Appointments are available from reception.
Any patients who would like help or information on smoking and how to stop are invited to make an appointment with the smoking cessation counsellor.
We provide a full range of travel vaccinations. It is important to find out in good time what you will need. Generally we ask you to contact the surgery at least 2 months before you intend to travel. Please note that there is a charge for certain vaccinations. More information is available on the above tab.
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
