We would like to inform our patients that unfortunately Dr Fontaine will be taking a leave of absence for the foreseeable future.

Although we will endeavour to seek locum support where possible, it is likely that our available appointments and the level of access to clinicians that we usually deliver will be adversely affected by this. Please understand that we may not be able to offer our usual level of access during this time.

Our receptionists may refer you to an urgent care centre in Banbury if you need an urgent appointment and we are unable to provide one.

If you are having musculoskeletal (MSK) problems you can self-refer to a physio here https://www.connecthealth.co.uk or ask our receptionist to book you a Saturday morning physio appointment.

If you have sinusitis, shingles, sore throat, impetigo or a UTI, amongst other conditions, you can seek help at a local pharmacy. More information as well as how to find a pharmacy can be found here https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/pharmacies

If you are pregnant, please contact the midwives at Horton hospital or Marie Stopes if you are considering of termination of pregnancy.

If you have an eye problem, please contact an Oxfordshire optician who offers a Minor Eye Conditions service (MECS)

We will keep you as up to date as possible, and we thank you in advance for your ongoing support and understanding.

The NHS have arranged several 'Protected Learning' days throughout the year. These days provide time for staff to complete mandatory training which is essential to maintain a safe and effective environment for patients. During these times the surgery will be closed. The next day for one of these is Tuesday 12th November.

Usually this learning time will take place over an afternoon, so in the mornings we will be open as usual.

Due to necessary changes in response to NHS initiatives surrounding online access, patients who use online access or patient services online may experience disruptions to their access. Please contact the surgery if your level of access changes.

Clinics & Services

Antenatal Care

Care for expectant mothers is provided by the doctors in conjunction with a team of midwives from the Horton Hospital in Banbury.

We have weekly visits from The Midwife Team - they attend for appointments on Wednesday afternoons bi-weekly. If you need to see a midwife other than this time please contact the Horton General Hospital on 01295 229190.

Counselling Service

The NHS in Oxfordshire provides counselling call 'Talking Space'. You can self refer via their website or by phoning 01865 901222.

Family Planning

A full service is available during normal surgery hours, please book an appointment with one of the doctors or practice nurse. For the most effective emergency contraception, it is advisable to use it as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse.

Minor Surgery

The Surgery is equipped for the doctors to perform minor surgical procedures. Please see a doctor for an initial discussion.

Health Checks

A full health check with a practice nurse or HCA, including measuring your blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and weight, and discussing your health and lifestyle. Appointments are available from reception.

Travel Vaccinations

We provide a full range of travel vaccinations. It is important to find out in good time what you will need. Generally we ask you to contact the surgery at least 2 months before you intend to travel. Please note that there is a charge for certain vaccinations. More information is available on the above tab.

Travel Vaccinations

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

Non-NHS Services

Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:

Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV etc.)
Insurance claim forms
Passport signing
Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
Private sick notes
Vaccination certificates

The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.
